Identify the problems and issues that occur when you use a wiki with a group

These following questions relate to ideas and problems when using a wiki and collaboration in the classroom.

Q1. What are the advantages of using Web 2.0 in the classroom?

Advantages of using Web 2.0 in the classroom include that it is something new, challenging and engaging for students.

It is new because it provides something different other than just reading out of text books and using traditional teaching methods.

It is challenging and engaging because it allows students to actively participate and learn together through social constructivism.

Q2. What causes lack of communication between team members?

Lack of communication by team members can be the result of the team members not knowing how to effectively use online communication. The team members can use emails, online chat services (especially Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo! Messenger) or even use the phone to communicate if they find that easier. It is critical that team members communicate effectively when not physically near one another.

Q3. How can this lack of communication be reduced?

Team members need to ensure that they use a variety of communication techniques to ensure that they find which method is the most effective. Team members can experiment with various communication techniques (like above - Q2) to see what is best for them.

A team leader can also be assigned to be a central point of communication.
